How to Use This Timetable

This interactive Child Arrangement timetable Calculator is designed to help you visualise and plan your child's schedule. Here's a quick guide to its features:

  • Adjusting Time Slots: Use the **time inputs** at the top to set the daily schedule for your child, including wake-up, school hours, and bedtime. Click the **Calculate Proportions** button to automatically update the timetable and charts to reflect these new times.
  • Pre-made Schedules: Choose from a variety of common caring schedules by clicking on the tabs at the top. These provide a great starting point for popular arrangements like 3443, 223, 43, 2255 or 77.
  • Editing the Timetable: Click on any time slot in the grid to cycle through the assigned carers. The order is: Parent O, Parent X, School, and Other. You can now also change the colours for Parent O and Parent X using the colour pickers in the key.
  • Term Time On/Off: The **Toggle Term Time** button automatically assigns the "School" colour to all weekdays' daytime slots. Click it again to turn this feature off.
  • Analysing the Charts: The two charts at the bottom provide a quick overview of the time distribution. The Daily Time Proportions chart shows how much time is spent in the morning, daytime, and evening for a single day. The **Total Schedule Distribution** charts show the cumulative percentage of time each carer is responsible for across all four weeks.
  • Printing and Clearing: Use the Print/PDF button to generate a printable version of your timetable. The Clear Schedule button resets all time slots back to "Other."

How the Percentages are Calculated

The Daily Time Proportions chart gives a breakdown of a single day based on your selected times. For example, a 2-hour morning slot will be a percentage of the total awake time that day. The **Total Awake Time Distribution** charts track the cumulative percentage for each carer, school, or Other time across all 4 weeks. For the daily chart, labels will show as M, D, and E for small percentages to ensure visibility.
